What is a Music Download Card?

1) A plastic wallet sized card with customized graphics on the front and the price, number of authorized downloads and access code, printed on the back much like the Gift Card concept now available in Shoppers’ Drugmart stores – but only for music!

2) You also get a self-administered artist’s page where you can upload an image, text about yourself and up to 25 songs (15 meg limit per track)

What are the benefits:

They might only like 3 or 4 songs out of the 8-12 tracks on your record. With the MDC they are more likely to risk a “toonie” or two for the download, where they have the option to pick only tracks they really like.   

How does it work? … Live Show Example

  1. Your band is playing a show – as well as selling your CD, you can sell the MDC (Music Download Card), just as you would your discs.
  2. When placing your order, you set the selling price for the cards (Say $4.00) and the number of downloads that card is authorized to allow (5). These numbers are printed on the back of the card, along with a scratch away access code number and website address.
  3. The customer logs on to the soundscape website, goes to “REDEEM DOWNLOAD CARDS” – which goes to your dedicated artist page. They enter the access code and can preview 20 seconds of the songs you uploaded. Your fans can then download the five songs of their choice, whenever they want.
